In early December 2008 Overgas subsidiary Gazosnabdyavane Vratsa EAD, Mezdra Branch, implemented for the first time in East Europe a new natural gas-heating technology.
The innovation is an American patent of Universal Vortex Inc. featuring a pilot gas heating system with the help of a Rank tube, which converts kinetic energy into heating and is widely used in the US and Canada.
Extra quantities of natural gas are currently used to heat the blue fuel in the gas regulating stations. Implementing the innovative technology will result in reduction of these quantities. The Mezdra station alone is estimated to annually save about 15 thousand cubic meters blue fuel.
The technological scheme design was done by a Gastec BG AD team and the installation – by Overgas Service AD with Executive Director Mr. Ivan Cholakov. The implementation is the work of UVI Europe AD with Executive Director Ms. Gergana Stoycheva. The project manager is Mr. Martin Boyadzhiev. Krasimir Iliev, Valery Karadzhilski, Tihomir Lakovski and Danail Prokopov are also involved in the implementation.
The new technology and the know-how of its implementation has generated the interest of Gazprom, Slovgaz and Bulgartransgaz.
